The Peloponnese is the easiest mainland option for a family camping circuit. Gythio, on the Mani coast, has a long sandy beach and a town with bakeries, a small harbour and easy walks. The verified family pitch at Camping Gythio came in from £53.05 for two adults and two children for one night. Further west, Camping Ionion Beach near Kyparissia checked from £44.33. Both are pitch prices; neither includes meals or transfers.
Crete: Palaiochora and Matala
Crete gives you two very different family beach camps. Palaiochora, on the south-west coast, is small enough for kids to roam, with a pebbly and sandy mix and shallow entry. The live price for Camping Grammeno’s family pitch was from £41.68, the cheapest verified stay in our check. Matala, on the south-central coast, has a famous sandy beach backed by caves, and Camping Komos Beach checked from £53.81. Both work well in September because the water is still warm and the evening noise levels drop.
Halkidiki: Sithonia
The middle peninsula of Halkidiki, Sithonia, is less busy than Kassandra and has pine-backed coves. Camping Armenistis checked from £45.47 for a family pitch. Shade here is reliable, which matters when you are camping with children in a warm September. The downside is that Halkidiki is harder to reach without a hire car; the nearest useful airport is Thessaloniki (SKG).
Corfu

A realistic week for a family of four using the cheapest routes we checked might be built around the £64 Manchester–Corfu flight and the £41.68 Grammeno pitch, but those are not the same region.
